Our Story

Did you know that Koota was named after Kuta Beach, Bali?
Koota Juice began when we discovered the wonders of mangosteen after travelling around Bali, Indonesia. So tasty and with a uniquely refreshing quality, it was a mystery why this fruit is little known in back in the UK. After researching more, its (very) extensive health benefits soon became apparent and we knew instantly that we had a mission: to let the world know and to prove that being healthy can be tasty and fun!
and thus, Koota Juice was born...
Bringing the fun to being healthy is our mission
Meet the Team
"I understand that the ability to travel is growing harder and more expensive with each passing day. Koota Juice is just one way in which we bring the treasures of Southeast Asia for all to enjoy"
Kaviyan began developing a keen interest in business and trade after helping his parents run a small market stall as a teenager. He went on to pursue an MA in Philosophy at the University of St. Andrews but, confined by the small walls of such a tiny town during Covid, he decided he needed somewhere bigger and more stimulating! As a result, he now lives in London where he studies for an MA in Law, after having recently completed his BA in International Relations at the School of Oriental and African Studies. He now splits his time between study and running Koota Juice!
"Having travelled the world extensively, I found I wasn’t just exploring the globe geographically, but I was also exploring it through the rich and varied landscape of taste and flavour."
Maria is an inveterate traveller who has punctuated a career in teaching religion, philosophy and ethics with large amounts of time in Asia and bringing up her family of husband and three boys (yup, he needed bringing up too, and she says he still does). There haven't been many years entirely spent in the UK, as children came as soon as they fitted in her rucksack. Maria and her husband cut their teeth in the business world on a very small scale, importing artefacts from India and selling them on a market stall - an enterprise that continued (alongside teaching) for 16 years and has left them both with immense awe and respect for those hardworking but underestimated market traders everywhere. With a foothold still in teaching, she devotes the rest of her time to Koota Juice and managing its Devon affairs.
